Background
Against the backdrop of a highly competitive market, no business enterprise can afford not to search for and take advantage of potentials for savings. This is particularly true for the efficiency of purchasing departments, which has a direct impact on the value creation in business organizations.
In the spring of 2005, a survey on productivity in purchasing was carried out. A vast amount of data collected from businesses from various different branches were used as a basis of our benchmarking. This puts us into the position to offer you the possibility to compare your organization to top-level businesses.
AMMPL has appointed BMEnet GmbH to implement the benchmarking services.

The resulting overview (ranking) shows you where your organization stands in comparison to all other businesses, within your branch or broken down by turnover levels, and the areas in which your organization has a lot of catching up to do. This lets you take well-founded decisions based on objective information, identifying the measures and areas in which cost savings potentials can be tapped into most quickly.
Evaluations
BENCHMARKINGplus is carried out neutrally and confidentially. We benchmark indicators that let you draw valuable conclusions as to the efficiency of your purchasing department.
Overall, BENCHMARKINGplus provides, aside from information on the participant structure, evaluations in the following areas:
- Finance
Costs of purchasing function, costs of ordering procedure, allocation of purchasing costs, etc. - Personnel
Employee efficiency, comparison of productive and unproductive hours in purchasing, allocation of further education measures, etc. - Purchasing functions
Number of active articles, number of active suppliers, negotiated purchasing volume, etc. - Purchasing tools
Utilization of purchasing cooperations / procurement service providers, evaluation of suppliers, payment terms, etc. - Other indicators
Complaint rate, warehouse range, etc
The results of the evaluation are made available in electronic form on USB sticks and in form of a booklet. With your personal evaluation, you will receive:
- visualized evaluations per index figure
- recommended action for selected index figures
- result overview with ranking of your organization in comparison to all organizations, the industry and broken down by turnover classification
- identification of areas with most urgent catching up to do
- executive summary with selected results and recommended action
Procedure
After submitting your registration, you receive a software with data entry mask for entry of your data. The questions are structured so that your finance and personnel departments, aside from purchasing, are able to participate in providing the required answers. After receipt of your data they will be evaluated.
The results of your individual BENCHMARKINGplus will be made available to you from middle of September 2006. This is to assure that the evaluations are made using the largest possible amount of data.
