September 2011: Around 8.000 suppliers visited the 40 buyer boothes at the BME European Sourcing Area at Shanghai International Sourcing Fair 2011. The BME Area is  located in a new prime location at the ground floor of the Shanghai Mart including a presentation and meeting area for face-to-face meeting between buyers and suppliers.

The BME Buyer Circle Shanghai reached a record participation of an average of over 20 attendees per meeting. Participants of the German language meeting include purchasing manager, CFOs and CEOs. Topics included supplier development, audits, human resources trends, steel market developments, and many others.

September 2010: Around 5.000 suppliers visited the 44 buyer boothes at the BME European Sourcing Area at Shanghai International Sourcing Fair 2010. The BME Area is now located in a new prime location at the ground floor of the Shanghai Mart. In addition, BME has optimized the fair area layout and the design.

A record number of over 100 participants joined the annual BME China Sourcing Conference 2010 in the Renaissance Yangtze Hotel in Shanghai. Over two days and in various forums and workshops, the delegates and speakers discussed recent developments in the Chinese and Asian sourcing market. The event also included a supply chain service provider exhibition.

On May 31st 2010 BME marked the relaunch of its Supplier Buyer Matchmaking Meetings (SBMM) with a special matchmaking event in Suzhou. Six Buyer companies and over 40 suppliers took part in the event. The opening speech was delivered by Gu Yukun, Vice Chairman of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP). The event was co-organized with BME`s new SBMM partner win2.

In April 2010, nine months after the first training, BME Shanghai welcomed the 100th participants to its China Purchasing Trainings. Since the start in August 2009 four trainings have been established: "Basics of Strategic Sourcing", "Negotiation Skills", "Purchasing of Metal Parts", "Project Management for Purchasing". In 2011 more courses will be launched, including "Price Analysis".

In February 2010 the BME Buyer Circle Beijing gathered to discuss Human Resources trends in China and their consequences for procurement operations. Daniel Hein, Head of Human Resources at Germanischer Lloyd Industrial Services Shanghai. gave a speech on the subject.

In January 2010, BME and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) held a supplier conference in Wuhan, capital of China`s inland province Hubei. The event included matchmaking talks and a seminar about requirements of western buyer companies. The NSN/BME delegation was led by Dr. Fan Zhijian, President and CEO of NSN (Shanghai) and Martin Kuehl, General Manager, BME Shanghai.

In September 2009 in Shanghai, BME President Dr. Jürgen Marquard met with Yi Xiaozhun, Vice Minister of Commerce of the People`s Republic of China. During the meeting both sides noted the positive development of bilateral business exchange and sourcing events like the Shanghai International Sourcing Fair.

In September 2009, BME General Manager Dr. Holger Hildebrandt and BME Shanghai General Manager Martin Kuehl travelled to Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, to discuss cooperation opportunities with Zhu Min, Director General of the Jiangsu Department of Commerce. Also attending was Alexander Zhang, General Manager of BME`s cooperation partner Win2.

2009 marked the fourth year of BME`s participation in China`s largest reverse fair, the Shanghai International Sourcing Fair (ISF). In 2009 the number of companies that took part in the BME area since 2006 surpassed the mark of 100.

Albeit 2009 was a crisis year for the world economy, the annual BME China Sourcing Conference at the JW Marriott Shanghai reached a record participation of close to 100 delegates. The two day event featured procurement related workshops and speeches from high profile representatives of companies like Siemens, Voith, ZF, Continental, Staufen, Brainnet and others. For the first time the event was accopmpaigned by a service provider exhibition.

In August 2009 the first group of participants of the newly launched BME China Purchasing Trainings received their certificates. The topic of the first training was "Basics of Strategic Sourcing". The seminar was held in cooperation with our partner Staufen Shanghai.

In July 2009 BME, the Government of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) and Clear Suppliers Corporation signed the "WIN 5 cooperation" contract in Suzhou. The ceremony was attended by various VIPs and over 300 suppliers. WIN 5 aims at increasing the business exchange between quality suppliers from Suzhou and BME member companies through the database BMEQualitySourcing.com.

2008 marked the third year of BME`s participation in the Shanghai International Sourcing Fair (ISF). Over 40 buyer companies set up their own boothes in the BME area at China`s largest reverse fair. The number of visiting suppliers at the September 2008 event surpassed 4.000.

In April 2008, a BME delegation visited Beijing and met with Vice Minister of Commerce Jiang Yaoping.
