The federal state bank Baden-Württemberg was awarded with the “BME Innovation Award 2008” by the Association Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (AMMPL). With the „BME Innovation Award“ the AMMPL recognizes sustainable concepts in procurement and logistics.
The innovative strategy needs to have proven its value for the enterprise as well as for their partners. With the LBBW concept „automated procurement of IT-services “ the AMMPL appreciates an innovative platform for improved strategic management of the purchase volume with the possibility of the supplier consolidation.
A new process standard, also for complex services, creates resources-free spaces for strategic tasks. IT-need such as printers, screens or map readers can be ordered already for a long time by the LBBW-staff online.
Since a few weeks it is also possible to look for advisors, above all IT-specialists such as programmers and project managers, directly over the same system. A software module connects the profile data base with the existing procurement platform of the LBBW. The turn-around times were gradually reduced and the entire process costs were lowered within a yearly on a level by 60 per cent. The LBBW rates the saving effect on approximately 2 million euro.
Leader of the jury and AMMPL chairman of the board, Dr. Jürgen Marquard: „The LBBW realized its vision to automate the procurement of complex services. This system platform has model function and is also suitable for an intersectoral application“.
The current winner of the “BME Innovation Award“, the LBBW, follows after previous year winner Claas. The AMMPL had appointed six submitting enterprises in September into a 2nd jury round: Doll Fahrzeugbau, Holzwerkstoffe Egger, Jungheinrich, Knorr-Bremse, Qimonda as well as the LBBW, which succeeded then with their solution.
