Swiss subcontracting industry - productivity, quality, innovativation

Find out about the potential for German buyers

Switzerland is one of the leading locations in the world thanks to its innovative and competitive companies, excellent research facilities, first-class trained workforce and outstanding infrastructure. Germany and Switzerland are closely interlinked in the area of industrial subcontracting; almost half of the trade volume of both countries can be attributed to subcontracted products.

BME and the German-Swiss-Chamber of Commerce offer buyers several options to get to know the Swiss subcontracting market better:

Swiss suppliers - competitive through quality, precision and reliability

Due to the high productivity, quality and precision as well as reliability of Swiss companies, German manufacturers like to purchase products from Switzerland. Swiss standards usually match those of German products very well. Both sides also benefit from the geographical proximity. Switzerland is considered expensive, but this is not always the case. Due to the strength of the franc, the Alpine republic has adjusted its prices to the world market.

The industrial sector is an important pillar of the Swiss economy, accounting for about a quarter of GDP. Key industries are machinery, electrical and metal industry, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, medical technology, information and communication technology and the financial sector. Important industry clusters and technologies are artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced manufacturing, personalised health, life sciences and blockchain. SMEs dominate the structure of the Swiss economy. 99 percent of companies have fewer than 250 employees.

Discover the potential of the market for yourself

This year, for the first time, BME International and AHK Switzerland are organising the event "Meet Swiss Best - High Tech & Innovation Supply" in May 2021. This event offers German buyers an excellent opportunity to highlight their sourcing needs. After a targeted search for potential partners in Switzerland, interested buyers will receive a list of Swiss supplier companies and decide with which companies you would like to hold on-site or digital B2B talks.

On 26 February 2021, at the German-Swiss Coffee Talk, interested buyers can find out about the supplier landscape in Switzerland without obligation and discuss the potentials and their needs with experts online and free of charge.
